The group is composed of musicians who have played in some of the top bands in Los Angeles.

Kati Hernandez will kick things off at 8:00 PM with a “salsa suelta” lesson (salsa without a partner), followed by the social dance and live music by La Picante.

Founded in 2005, LA Picante plays a celebrated blend of classic salsa, collectively drawing from years of experience playing with the top Latin jazz and salsa groups in Los Angeles. This outfit of seven musicians has traveled throughout the world sharing the stage with such acts as Stevie Wonder, Taj Mahal, Tambu, Jay McNeeley and Poncho Sanchez among others.

A native of Cuba, Kati Hernandez brings to the United States her humble, yet explosive and uplifting energy. Kati's knowledge of dance and choreography reveals her intricate and versatile style, making her a highly sought-after educator and performer, nationally and internationally.
In Los Angeles, Hernandez is a central figure in a large dance community where she hosts weekly, monthly and annual Cuban events and folkloric dance, drums, AND singing workshops. Hernández is the artist director and choreographer of Kimbambula Cuban dance and music ensemble, based in LA.
