Louis Van Taylor

Saxophone and woodwind specialist Louis Van Taylor has been performing the world over. His career began with a 20-year association with Ray Charles, followed by stints with the Gap Band, Kool and the Gang, Gerald Wilson, Jimmie and Jeannie Cheatham, Phil Ranelin, and many others. Van Taylor has taught at the USC Jazz Studies Department for seven years and has also mentored Washington Rucker’s Jazz for Wee People, sponsored by the Los Angeles Jazz Society.

Scotty Barnhart

Scotty Barnhart is an internationally acclaimed Jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, educator, author, two-time Grammy winner, and Director of The Count Basie Orchestra. He has performed with Frank Sinatra, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Nat Adderley, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, George Benson, and many others. Scotty is co-founder and Artistic Director of The Florida Jazz and Blues Festival, and Professor of Jazz Trumpet with tenure at Florida State University.

Rayford Griffin

Rayford Griffin has been internationally respected as among the most inventive, volcanic, and versatile drummers in music, having worked with artists ranging from Jean-Luc Ponty to George Duke, Dave Koz to Michael Jackson. Griffin’s recent recording “Reflections of Brownie” pays tribute to his uncle, Clifford Brown, the late trumpeter known for his classic recordings with Max Roach and Sarah Vaughan and his compositions “Joy Spring” and “Daahoud.”

The Billy Mitchell Group with Vocalist Billy Redd

Band leader and pianist Billy Mitchell has worked with a wide variety of leading artists including Ester Phillips, Randy Crawford, Linda Hopkins, and Kenny Burrell, to name a few. The chart-topping recording artist began his solo projects in the 1980s and his latest projects include work with the Jazz Leaders and Circle of Friends. The Billy Mitchell Group has appeared at many international festivals including the Monterey Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Heineken World Music Festival, and countless club appearances.
