Join Reel Talk Film Series for a free screening and panel. Attendees will discuss the cultural, historical and political references of «Black Panther», as well as the implications these have, not only for equity, diversity and inclusion, but for a vision of Afrikan peoples and nations once again at the vanguard of world affairs. Like Lowndes County Mississippi and Oakland, ÇA, during the time of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, Wakanda today is a flashback, a foreshadowing, a metaphor for the reckoning of accountability and the restoration of consciousness, even at the expense of loyalty. How they come to terms with each other, one a fantasy, maybe, and the other a reality, forgone perhaps, may hold a key to how Afrikan peoples and nations can get back «on the quest for true humanity.»
