SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2018 11:59pm: WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (35mm, Warner Brothers)
Shown on back to back nights with CASABLANCA as a Valentine’s double-header, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY asks the basic question: is life-long romantic love and friendship really possible or is just a myth? One of the great romantic comedies of the last 30 years, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY hilariously explores all the pitfalls of modern life that make a life-long fulfilling romantic relationship seem impossible. Crass, funny, but often self-absorbed Harry (Billy Crystal) meets kind, tense, type A Sally (Meg Ryan) at three different points in their lives; at each point they never quite click as a couple. Spanning college road trips to first marriages to life after divorce, Harry and Sally surprise themselves by forming a deep bond of friendship as they make countless romantic mistakes with other partners. Until finally they have to tackle the biggest question of all head-on: could they ever work as a couple?
Funny, heartfelt, wonderfully written, directed, and acted, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY is pure comedic delight from start to finish.
