THE JANUARY 11th ART WALK
Please visit the DOWNTOWN ART WALK LOUNGE at The Spring Arts Collective!
This January, the Downtown Art Walk Lounge will be hosted by the Spring Arts Collective, located on the Mezzanine level of The Last Bookstore at 453 S. Spring Street. This change is part of a new outreach campaign for our team to better connect with the Art Walk community as whole.
The Spring Arts Collective presents: Face to Face: 25 Years of SoCal Punk curated by Sugar Press, on view during the January 11th Art Walk, through January 27th.
The exhibit features artwork created for Face to Face over the last 25 years including illustrations and photography by Shepard Fairey, Stephen Stickler, Jim Evans (aka TAZ), corey miller (LA Ink), Kevin Baldes (Lit), and Jeffrey Everett. The artwork is featured in the limited–edition coffee table book, “Face To Face: 25 Years of SoCal Punk, The Visual History” released December 1, 2017 by publishers Melodic Virtue.
Our complimentary Gallery Guides will be available at the Spring Arts Collective for those interested in a self-guided tour, and members of our staff will be there to answer questions!
Also participating on Art Walk night are Downtown favorites The Hive Gallery and Art Meets Architecture at the Fine Arts Building. Look out for ongoing exhibitions at These Days and Figat7th via Arts Brookfield, and a new exhibition at REN Gallery.
We look forward to seeing you at The Spring Arts Collective upstairs from The Last Bookstore this Thursday, January 11th from 6 to 10PM!

MORE TO SEE AND DO:
REN Gallery — In today’s world, male-female relationships are under scrutiny as we struggle to understand the dark side of attraction and desire in a post-feminist world. On the January 11th Art Walk, Ren Gallery presents a series of sculpture and multi-media works by Harry B. Chandler titled De-Constructing Desire. These works strive to inform, shock, humor and provoke conversation around the shifting landscape of sexual interaction. The underbelly of the sexual connection is exposed, where the constructs of emotional relationship have been usurped by male entitlement, violence, and complex economic negotiations by both sexes. Exhibition runs through March 4th. More info: facebook.com/events/145137816192279/
LACDA Los Angeles Center for Digital Art — On the January 11th Art Walk, LACDA presents a preview of M. Woods: The Numb Spiral: First Parasitic Event (Building the Wall). M. This is the first parasitic event of The Numb Spiral. Including over 1,000 images, 30 videos, the premiere of the feature film «Dailies from Dumpland», performances, projections, a two-hour soundscape, and a secret virtual reality drug to be administered to an unfortunate few.
