TV’s most famous chef, Anthony Bourdain, has made a new documentary about food waste titled WASTED!: The Story of Food Waste. Los Angeles organizations Climate Resolve and Los Angeles Food Policy Council, in partnership with Center for Food Safety are pleased to present a special opening night discussion and screening in Los Angeles on Friday, October 13th! Tickets to benefit Climate Resolve and the LA Food Policy Council available here >> climateresolve.org/wasted

The 7:30 PM screening will be preceded by a 7:00 PM panel discussion with Diana Donlon (Center for Food Safety's Soil Solutions program), Chef Mary Sue Milliken, Kristina von Hoffmann (Climate Resolve) and Clare Fox (Los Angeles Food Policy Council) discussing food waste, climate change and solutions to these urgent problems.

Through the eyes of chef-heroes like Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura and Danny Bowien, audiences will see how the world’s most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps and rejects into incredible dishes that feed more people and create a more sustainable food system. The film also features several food waste reduction stories from all over the world, including waste-fed pigs in Japan, a disposal program that has reduced household food waste by 30% in South Korea, and a garden education curriculum New Orleans. Anthony Bourdain on the documentary: “I’m not an activist but the intent of this film aligns with something that’s very much personal. I came up in kitchen regimes where you live by an absolute rule of using everything and wasting nothing, and of course, as a traveler, I see again and again how circumstances force people to cook incredibly well with the often very little food available to them. One film isn’t going to cure all of society’s ills but if a few people start thinking about what they’re eating for dinner in a different way or think twice about throwing out what is often the best stuff, it’s a good day.”
