This two-day introductory course taught by botanists Nick Jensen and Sophie Winitsky will provide an overview of the science of botany. Concepts covered will include morphology, evolution, taxonomy, and ecology.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify basic plant parts and structures, and will have learned how scientists organize and study plant diversity. By emphasizing the context of plants in natural habitats and their vital role in human society, participants will gain a greater appreciation of the plants found all around us.

The course will include lectures, labs, short walks at RSABG, and a half-day field trip to Huntington Botanic Garden.
