One Colorado is quite pleased to again be partnering with Vroman’s Bookstore for its Book Club. With our great response to our Courtyard’s Free Little Library, which operates on a Take One, Leave One basis, and we are further support the printed word with our seasonal Book Club.
For our second book club installment, from Vroman’s staffers recommendations we’ve chosen Before the Fall by (Fargo’s) Noah Hawley, and heralded as «one the year's best suspense novels» by the New York Times.
A limited supply of books will be available at no charge starting at noon on Friday, August 18 in the One Colorado Courtyard, on a first-come first-served basis until they are all gone. And while you are at it, bring a book for our Community Library! Give one take one!
(This event page gets the good word out on our book club… Plus folks can post book club prompts and other comments. Signing up here does not gaurantee or reserve a book. You must come in person to get your book. And its' one book per person — no exceptions.)
About the book:
FROM THE AWARD-WINNING CREATOR OF FARGO COMES «ONE THE YEAR'S BEST SUSPENSE NOVELS» (NEW YORK TIMES).
On a foggy summer night, eleven people--ten privileged, one down-on-his-luck painter--depart Martha's Vineyard on a private jet headed for New York. Sixteen minutes later, the unthinkable happens: the plane plunges into the ocean. The only survivors are the painter Scott Burroughs and a four-year-old boy, who is now the last remaining member of an immensely wealthy and powerful media mogul's family. Was it by chance that so many influential people perished? Or was something more sinister at work? A storm of media attention brings Scott fame that quickly morphs into notoriety and accusations, and he scrambles to salvage truth from the wreckage. Amid trauma and chaos, the fragile relationship between Scott and the young boy grows and glows at the heart of this stunning novel, raising questions of fate, morality, and the inextricable ties that bind us together.
