Please join us for a closing reception on Saturday, October 28 from 3-5pm, including a screening of Buen Provecho by Art Division's La Carcacha Film Collective at 3:30pm.
People come, people go, paths cross and diverge. Buenos días, buenas noches, Buen Provecho presents interweaving vignettes of Angelinos moving through their city on one winter day. Beginning with a chance encounter on a train, passing through Macarthur Park for an elote, and then up to Sunset Boulevard by bicycle, each scene stands alone and yet still gives life to the next. When one character exits, another enters, and our camera follows. We hope to weave together distinct characters and locations, creating a rich tapestry of Los Angeles, a city we know and love.

Identity in Los Angeles showcases artworks created by the students of Art Division led by founder Dan McCleary and instructors Luis Serrano and Fabian Cereijido, PhD. Students were asked to explore their identities through utilizing an array of media including sculpture, photography, video, painting, and drawing. The project was also coupled with students’ investigation of the term «identity» through the study of short stories, lectures, films, poems, and visiting other exhibitions concerning immigration, gender, race, and stereotype. This exhibition is a product of this research.
Founded in 2010, Art Division is a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and supporting under-served young adults, ages 18-26, interested in studying the visual arts. Through free professional arts instruction, academic assistance, and college and career counseling, participants develop the tools they need to pursue higher education, achieve self-sufficiency and find careers in the arts. artdivision.org
