For August, join Mayor Ted Winterer for a ride to all of Santa Monica's community gardens. The 7 mile ride will end at Bareburger on Main Street for an extended happy hour.
We will leave from City Hall just after 5:30 pm and the ride will be about 1.5 hours.
Bring your own bike, helmet, lock & water bottle. The ride is 7 miles with 150' of elevation gain. Children should be capable of street riding or in an appropriate child seat or trailer. There is no cost to participate.
No bike? No problem! Just grab a Breeze Bike Share.
About the Mayor's Ride:
Biking is better with friends! That's why the Mayor started free monthly community rides in January 2017. If you know how to ride a bike, these events are for you! Come meet the Mayor, City staff, and your neighbors while enjoying the Santa Monica sunshine!
About the Santa Monica Community Gardens:
The City currently has 4 community garden sites including Main Street Gardens located at 2200 Main Street with 73 individual garden plots; Park Drive North and South located on Park Drive off of Broadway with 38 individual garden plots; Euclid Park located at 1515 Euclid with 11 individual garden plots and 3 workshop plots, and the newest addition, The Learning Garden at Ishihara Park (2909 Exposition Blvd), which serves as the first Communal Garden as well as an Urban Ag Education Site. Workshops and tours of the garden and adjacent Urban Fruit Tree Orchard will take place regularly throughout the year, in an effort to expand gardening knowledge to the many apartment dwellers around the City.
