Working at the intersection of cultural studies and film and media studies, film historian Ellen Scott—associate professor in the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television—will explore the history of the silent race film (now nearly lost amidst today’s visually saturated culture) and the ways in which it has evolved over the years.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition «Center Stage: African American Women in Silent Race Films.»
