Deep, full backbends can be satisfying, exhilarating, and liberating, but they don't always come easily. As Westerners who sit in chairs, drive cars and spend our lives hunched over phones and computers we have altered the natural curves of the spine. A completely expressed backbend requires unrestricted movement of dozens of joints and proper balancing of all their movements. Even if you do bend back easily, the joints of your lower back and neck most likely move more freely than the ones in your upper back, hips, and shoulders. That’s just how the body is designed. Lets use the chair to our BENEFIT!
Yogacharya B.K.S Iyengar developed a range of props that enable every person to improve and benefit in their practice.
With the help of the chair you can achieve and maintain correct alignment during practice, stay longer and relax into challenging asanas in order to attain their full health benefits.
In this workshop we will be focus on the upper back, the thoracic spine and its relationship to the rest of the body.
