ADAM DEL MONTE
One of the leading flamenco and classical guitarist/composers of his generation, Adam del Monte has made it his life mission to fully express himself in these two genres, transcending labeling and convention. Always having incorporated a wide array of musical styles in his compositions, del Monte has embarked on a journey of creating a unique sound and language of flamenco that is both steeped in tradition and progressive in its openness to musical flavors from around the world.
First Prize Winner at the 1997 Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition,del Monte is one of the new generations dynamic force in both flamenco and classical guitar.
He studied in Spain, Israel & England. Beginning with his father, he continued his training with such famed Gypsy performers as Pepe “Habichuela”, Paco Cortez, Nino Miguel & Gerardo Nunez.
Del Monte has also performed with flamenco singer Enrique Morente and the Madrid Symphony Orchestra,
as well as with Lole’ y Manuel
Adam has been on the studio guitar department faculty at USC since 2000, where he teaches flamenco and classical guitar.
Diego Álvarez “El negro”, was born in Caracas, Venezuela and began his musical studies with the juvenile orchestra movements such as “Simón Bolívar”. Coincidentally he studied Afro-venezuelan percussion in the popular culture workshops of the “Fundación Bigott”.
He is the founder of the Pasión Flamenca company and musical director and teacher at the school of superior flamenco studies in Caracas, directed by Daniela Tugues.
He has lived in Spain for the past 5 years, working with such artists as: Antonio Canales, Sara Baras, Joaquín Cortés, Suroma, Losadas, Juan Andrés Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, La Tati, Alejandro Granados, Antonio Reyes, Manuel Reyes, Belén Fernández, Alfonso Losa, Rafael Estévez
ASAF KOFLER, bass
Asaf started playing bass at age 14 and studied at Rimon School of Music in Tel Aviv, Israel.
At 17 formed the band Confusion, a jazz-fusion band that achieved wide success in Israel.
Confusion was a main feature at the Red Sea International Jazz Festival in 1998 and 1999 sharing the stage with the biggest jazz artists of that time such as Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Brad Mehldau and many more.
In 2000 Asaf moved to Madrid Spain where he got exposed more deeply to flamenco, a style he grew up listening to at home from a very young age.With in months, Asaf had the opportunity to play with Ruben Dantas, the percussionist of Paco de Lucia.
Asaf also played with jazz pianist and composer, legend, Horacio Icasto one of Spain's iconic artists.
At 2001 Asaf decided to joint his older brother Adam Del Monte in Los Angeles to become a founding member of Adam del Monte’s Trio and other musical adventures.
Most recently, Asaf and his fusion band Confusion, opened for the reunion tour of the fusion legends of UZEB in Israel.
