Multi-instrumentalists, Monika Khot and Adam Wolcott Smith, formed Zen Mother after trading musical secrets in a windowless warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. They quickly decided to weave their furtive styles together, creating new heavy, electronic-rock based landscapes, while simultaneously uprooting themselves and relocaticing to Seattle, WA.
The music is dynamic in nature, lending itself to sonic focus and harnessing control of the mind. On their upcoming LP, I Was Made To Be Like Her, Industrial harshness is flawlessly paired with ambient beauty all alongside the ever-pervasive feeling of torment.
Already garnering high acclaim in Seattle by KEXP and The Stranger, with the latter’s Dave Segal writing, “[I Was Made To Be Like Her] stands as one of the most distinctively tenebrous and beautiful rock records likely to come out of Seattle in 2017”, Zen Mother is entering a rarified territory within the Pacific Northwest that can only continue to expand.
Flying Hair began as core members Bobby Martin, Matthew Clark, and Kurt Mangum. Bobby was a founding member of Zig Zags where he both sang and played drums. Switching to bass/vocals in Flying Hair he is joined by Matthew, a previous collaborator with doom legend Wino Weinrich, on drums, and Kurt blasting effects laden guitar. Flying Hair creates heavily riffed demented jams with creepy vibes, with a catchy pop sensibility emerging from that wave of weirdness and groove. Their debut Haunted Hangout II was reissued on vinyl via cult label Casual Acid Tea based in Los Angeles after selling out several runs of DIY cassettes. This album could aptly soundtrack a horror flick set in a smoke filled funhouse. Haunted Hangout II was mixed/produced by guitarist/tech mastermind Brian McKinley of Black Bananas/RTX/Royal Trux. With added member Brian Fox on synthesizers, the band has completed their second full length album to be released later this year.

ELECTRIC SOUND BATH is a Los Angeles-based duo comprised of Ang Wilson (modular synth and singing bowls) and Brian Griffith (bass guitar and electronics). Inspired by the sound baths made famous by the Integratron, ESB uses singing bowls, as well as electric instrumentation to create similarly dense wombs of sound that envelop the listener. Taking cues from nature, esoteric philosophy and decades of likeminded musicians, Electric Sound Bath creates accessible music that is equally at home in a remote ashram, as well as an urban performance space.
