This is a 6-mile round-trip moderately difficult hike in the San Gabriel Mountains up Mount Lowe. The well-established trail leads to the old Echo Mountain Resort, the former site of a grand alpine tavern and the aerial tramway that brought guests up the mountain side. Today, remnants of the old Mount Lowe Railway and the hotel can still be seen, along with stunning views of the San Gabriel Valley. Sturdy shoes and plenty of drinking water are highly recommended. Although well-traveled, portions of the trail are quite steep and/or narrow.
