— CURATOR STATEMENT //
As an L.A. native and co-founder of both Firecracker and Mochilla, I've attended my fair share of house parties, backyard boogies and underground clubs. At these gatherings, we’ve learned and continue to learn about new and old music from various DJs and cultures across the world—sharing sonic vibrations with total strangers under the same groove. Growing up in L.A., I can remember hearing Cumbia for the first time as my neighbor's car drove by, then immediately hearing KDAY from the next passerby. To some, this may have seemed confusing but it all made sense to me. I'm still fascinated by the different music I hear while driving across L.A. Music continues to bring cultures together,
especially here in the City Of Angels.
On Friday, August 11, the world famous Baka Boyz, Curator and I will be exploring music from our neighborhoods and the world. We’ll be sharing past and present musical gems of all genres, tempos and generations under the stars. Come join us as we make new memories and party like it’s 1999.
