Kyodo Taiko is a Japanese drumming group based in University of California, Los Angeles and was the first collegiate taiko group to be formed in North America. The ensemble is dedicated to bringing the art of taiko and Japanese culture to surrounding communities.
UCLA Kyodo Taiko is proud to present our 19th Annual Spring Concert on May 20th at 7pm in UCLA Northwest Auditorium! This year's concert is titled «Shinkyū» (新旧) which can be translated into «new and old,» a word which captures the history and culture among Kyodo members. All of our songs are taught by senior members and have been passed down since 1990 through generations of revival and inspiration. Meanwhile, members compose and teach new songs to add to our repertoire. Through these processes of learning, the spirits of past members are celebrated while we also celebrate our family that is now. Please join us in celebrating Kyodo's traditions as well as the creativity and songs made by this year's outstanding senior members!
