The Skirball Cultural Center and Ford Theatres present a night of contemporary Cuban music with Daymé Arocena, “an artist for the ages” (NPR). Showcasing unforgettable stage presence at every performance, the critically hailed singer-composer combines Santerian chant, rhythmic complexity, fluid jazz styling, and a nuanced Afro-Cuban soulfulness. Hear her perform songs from her latest album, Cubafonía—praised by Pitchfork as “a vibrant, bold record that is, at its heart, a love letter to her home country”—live at the Skirball. Part of the Skirball’s annual outdoor Thursday night summertime series, Sunset Concerts at the Skirball.
Part of the IGNITE @ the FORD! series, made possible through the generous support of LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. Proceeds benefit the Ford Theatre Foundation.
