This year's #DíadelosMuertos celebration on Saturday, November 4th, «Día de los Muertos: A Cultural Legacy, Past, Present & Future», marks the 44th Anniversary of Self Help Graphics & Art's production one of the most popular cultural events in Los Angeles; which we believe is the oldest #DayoftheDead commemoration in the country!
This program is unique in that it provides the community with a season of activities from September-November 2017, to celebrate and prepare for Día de los Muertos.
An accompanying Day of the Dead exhibition is on view through February 24, 2018 at Self Help Graphics, titled «Día de los Muertos: A Cultural Legacy, Past, Present & Future”. This exhibition, which is part of the Getty Foundation’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative (PST: LA/LA), is co-curated by renowned Artist Linda Vallejo and Dr. Betty Brown (Emeritus Professor of Art History, California State University Northridge). The exhibition includes a full color catalog with essays by project historians Dr. Betty Ann Brown, Dr. Karen Mary Davalos (Professor of Chicana/o Studies, Loyola Marymount University), Marietta Bernstorff and Rose Salseda.
Nov 4 Event Parking:
Due to very limited paid parking on site, we encourage the community to take public transporation or carpool. Hint: Reserve/refill your Tap card and use the Metro Los Angeles Goldline to get to Mendez HS & Self Help Graphics- exit Pico/Aliso station!
